| Gutknecht, Anton (Oil)In 1980 Foster Art Books published Painting Landscapes and Seascapes by Gutknecht, the first of several books by this artist in the Foster “how to paint” series which brought Gutknecht recognition throughout the United States. His paintings, which can be sweeping in scope, contain a mixture of realism and idealistic beauty. Some of his Southern California scenes were reproduced as commercial prints. It is thought that over a million of these prints were published in artist’s lifetime.
Gutknecht returned to Düsseldorf shortly before his death in 1988. |
