Charles F Attridge - Painter

(1907 – 1992)

Clarence F. Attridge was born in New York on January 20, 1907. Prior to moving to the San Diego, California area he lived in Rochester, New York. He received his initial art training from the Mechanics Institute (now the Rochester Institute of Technology). After art school Attridge worked for many years as a scenic artist painting scenes for theatres on Broadway. He also designed and painted murals for churches, theatres, and for the homes of people of influence.

For years Attridge was an art teacher, teaching fundamentals of landscape, seascape and abstract painting. He exhibited widely in San Diego and Southern California, winning many awards in the venues in which he exhibited his works. He appeared on local Public Television demonstrating his art and techniques. His works are held in collections worldwide.

At the time of his death on October 5, 1992 he was living in Oceanside, California (north of San Diego).
