Edgar Otis Miner was born in New London, Connecticut in 1915. He attended the Guy Wiggins Art School in Essex, Connecticut from 1935 to 1940 as well as the National Academy in New York City from 1938 to 1940. Miner served in the U.S. army from 1940 to 1945 spending three years in the Pacific.
Miner first exhibited at the Lyme Art Association in 1947 and became a member of the organization in 1949. Over the years he served on all committees and he served as treasurer from 1953 to 1970. In addition to painting in New England, Miner travelled extensively to paint in England, Scotland, Holland and Jamaica. Edgar Otis Miner died in January of 2003.
