Lynn Clark Winans (1897 – 1982)
Lynn Clark Winans was born in Michigan on April 30, 1897 to his parents: Jonathan Classon Winans and Carrie Elizabeth Rifner. A painter of plein air landscapes and seascapes Winans spent most of his artistic career living in San Diego, California. With San Diego as his base Winans made frequest trips to other locations such as the desert area near Palm Springs, north along the California coast, the Tetons and Lenore Lake in Colorado. A painting of a street scene in Montmartre suggests that he probably made a trip to Paris as well. Winans works were exhibited widely in the San Diego area and he died there on July 7, 1982.
