Artist Biography
Regnor Reinholdtsen was born on Desteralen Island in the village of Myre, Norway on January 23, 1944. His parents moved to Seattle, Washington in 1947 where Regnor graduated from Ballard High School in 1962. He enrolled at the University of Washington to study ceramics; he served an apprenticeship under Robert Sperry where he developed his own style of artistry.
Regnor was at the heart of the Northwest ceramics world for more than forty years. In 1969 he opened his own studio, Regnor’s Pottery, in the Sunset Hills neighborhood in Ballard where artists, musicians and members of the community gathered to share their love for the arts. He hosted summer and winter solstice parties every year at his studio where others could watch him work, express themselves through clay and work on pieces of their own. A natural teacher and mentor, Regnor passed on his love of clay to students at Sammamish High School, Bellevue College and the Kirkland Arts Center.
